MotoGP Japan 2026 rolls into Mobility Resort Motegi on 2 October for round 16 of what has been a relentless, punishing season. By this point in the calendar, the title conversation has narrowed to a handful of names and the margins are brutal. Every lap at Motegi is going to count.

Motegi is one of those circuits that sorts the pretenders out quickly. It is a stop-and-go layout with heavy braking zones and a long back straight where top-end power does the talking. If your package has a weakness, Motegi will find it. Championship leaders arrive here knowing a mistake costs more than points. It costs momentum, and momentum in the final stretch of a MotoGP season is everything.

The factory Ducati squads will be expected to lead the charge as they have done for most of the year. But Honda on home soil is never a team to write off entirely, and Motegi tends to galvanise the Japanese manufacturers in a way that other circuits simply do not. Expect the garage atmosphere to reflect that. Expect the crowd to reflect it even more.
