Welcome to Lid Life: A Proper Home for Bikers
Lid Life is a UK motorcycle community built for every rider – commuter or café racer, fresh CBT or thirty years in the saddle. Here’s what we’re about. Whether you’re carving a B-road at dawn, grinding out the commute in November rain, or deep in a Saturday afternoon rebuild with the radio on – welcome. You’ve just found Lid Life.
Not a magazine. Not a dealership. Not an influencer account dressed up as a community. Lid Life is the real thing: a UK motorcycle platform built by riders, run for riders, with no corporate agenda and no brand loyalties getting in the way.
What is Lid Life?
Lid Life is your home for UK motorcycle news, honest reviews, ride guides and the Lid Life Events Finder — a free tool that connects riders with motorcycle events across the UK and beyond. Track days, rallies, shows, rideouts, green-lane meets, custom culture events – it’s all in there, from the big internationals down to the club meet in a pub car park in North Yorkshire. Both matter to us equally.
Beyond the Events Finder, you’ll find:
- Motorcycle news – industry updates, UK road news, legislation changes and safety recalls. Reported straight, no rewritten press releases.
- Honest reviews – bikes, gear, accessories and tech. We take a position. If something’s worth the money we’ll tell you. If it isn’t, we’ll tell you that too.
- Ride guides – routes, touring features and day-trip guides covering the whole of the UK, not just the roads south of Birmingham.
- Events Finder – search and filter motorcycle events by type, location and date. Free to use, always.
Why we built it
The UK motorcycle community is enormous, diverse and largely underserved by the media that claims to represent it. The glossy titles are written for buyers, not riders. The social accounts either chase clout or preach safety theatre at people who’ve been riding longer than the content creator has held a licence.
Lid Life was built to fill the gap. The name says everything: a lid is what riders call a helmet. It’s the one piece of kit every single rider wears regardless of what they ride, where they ride, or how long they’ve been riding. We are for the person wearing the lid – not the manufacturer selling it.
Who’s welcome here
Everyone with a licence and a key.
The commuter on a 125. The weekend warrior on a twenty-year-old Triumph. The green-laner with mud in places that don’t bear thinking about. The café racer obsessive who’s spent more on the build than a sensible person would admit. The scooter kid on their first season. The adventure tourer who thinks Penrith is a reasonable overnight stop.
There is no minimum displacement, no minimum mileage and no coolness threshold at the door. The moment Lid Life starts ranking riders by what they ride or how they ride it, we’ve failed. We don’t intend to fail.
What you won’t find here
Content that ignores a bike’s flaws because the manufacturer is advertising with us. Safety used as a punchline. Gatekeeping dressed up as banter. American spelling. We’d rather say something true and slightly rough than something smooth and meaningless. Riders can smell the difference.
Get stuck in
Start with the Events Finder – find something worth riding to. Then dig into the news, pick up a review or two, and check the ride guides for somewhere new to point the front wheel.
Two Wheels, One Club. You’re already in it.
