Brookes joins Carl Cox Motorsport for a proper crack at the North West 200

Carl Cox Motorsport is linking up with Uggly&Co Racing for a tilt at this year’s North West 200, and they’ve not mucked about with the rider choice. Josh Brookes, two-time British Superbike Champion, proven road racer, is signed for both Supersport races aboard a Suzuki GSX-R750.

That name on the entry list alone gets people talking.

Cox has been backing talent across two and three wheels for years. Michael Dunlop is among those who’ve raced under his banner, so this isn’t a vanity project. He knows what he’s doing, and he knows who he wants doing it.

Uggly&Co will be less familiar to some, but anyone who spends time in paddocks, from BSB to the Isle of Man TT, will have clocked the brand. Founded by Al Morris, it’s long been one of those outfits quietly putting money back into the sport at every level. This is the step up: running their own team, their own way.

And Brookes is the right man for the Triangle. He’s been racing the NW200 since 2013, podiums in the bank, a lap record set back in 2014, and a top speed of 212.4mph recorded in more recent years. He’s been consistently quick out there. What he hasn’t got yet is the win – and that’s clearly what this is about.

The GSX-R750 is a sensible pick for Supersport. It’s got the top-end to matter on those long straights, and it handles the fast, flowing nature of the circuit well. No wild gamble here, just a decent package built around a rider who knows the roads.

Cox has described it as the “perfect racing collab.” Morris sees it as years of grassroots investment finally coming back around. Brookes, for his part, sounds fully committed.

Unfinished business, a well-backed team, and a bike that suits the circuit. The NW200 has seen stranger things come unstuck – but on paper, this one has a bit of weight to it.
