That’s right: after more than four decades away, this global celebration of enduro is returning to the UK – with Wales confirmed as the host nation.

The ISDE isn’t just another race – it’s the oldest off-road motorcycle event on the FIM calendar, dating back to 1913 when the first edition was held in Carlisle.

Bringing the 2027 event to Wales marks the first time the UK will host since 1983 – a monumental return that connects modern riders with a storied piece of British motorcycling history.

What’s Planned (So Far)

The organising body Auto-Cycle Union (ACU), working alongside Welsh enduro clubs and with support from the governing body Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), has confirmed that Mid-Wales will host the event – with the base expected to be around Builth Wells and the Royal Welsh Showground.

Organisers are drawing on decades of Welsh enduro expertise – terrain veterans from clubs such as Hafren Motorcycle Club and Builth Wells Motorcycle Club are reportedly involved, meaning the courses will likely showcase some of the rugged, classic Welsh off-road terrain riders know and love.

Though the exact dates haven’t been revealed yet, insiders expect it’ll slot into a late summer or early autumn timespan – ideal for milder weather and better trails after the summer dust settles (or the British mud returns, depending on your mood).
