Right then. Imagine this: you're out on your classic, vintage, or modern classic bike, cruising through the streets with your mates, looking like you've just stepped out of a 1960s Savile Row catalogue, while raising money for prostate cancer research and men's mental health. That's the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in a nutshell, and it's back on Sunday, 17th May 2026.
Whether you've done it before and you're already digging out the flat cap and brogues, or you've been meaning to sign up for years and keep forgetting (we've all been there), this is your nudge. Your very enthusiastic, probably-smells-of-engine-oil nudge.
So What Actually Is the DGR?
The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR) is a global charity motorcycle event that takes place simultaneously in cities all over the world. Riders on classic and vintage-styled motorcycles dress in their finest attire, head out with their local community, and raise funds for Movember, the charity behind prostate cancer research and men's mental health programmes.
It was founded back in 2012 by Mark Hawwa in Sydney, Australia. The inspiration? A photo of Don Draper from Mad Men, perched on a classic bike in a sharp suit. From that one image, a worldwide movement was born. Funny how things work out.
Since then, the DGR has grown into something genuinely remarkable. The 2025 event saw 127,000 riders take part across 1,038 rides in 108 countries, raising an incredible $7.6 million USD for Movember. The cumulative total across all 15 editions now stands at over $60 million. That's real money, going toward real research and real support for men who need it.
And this year marks the 15th anniversary of the DGR, which makes 2026 a particularly special one to be part of.
Why Do Bikers Love It So Much?
It's a charity ride, yes, but it's also just a brilliant excuse to get out on the bike with good people, look ridiculous in the best possible way, and feel like you're part of something bigger than your usual Sunday morning blast.
There's something genuinely moving about thousands of riders, all over the world, all heading out on the same day for the same reason. If you do want to go above and beyond on the fundraising front, Triumph is also awarding brand new modern classic motorcycles to the top three fundraisers worldwide. Fundraise enough to earn a patch (from $250 USD) or a limited edition pin pack (from $1,000 USD). And the top 50 global fundraisers each take home a limited edition Hedon x DGR helmet. Not bad for a day out in a tweed jacket.
All Bikes Welcome (Dapper Attire Required)
You don't need a perfectly restored 1960s Triumph Bonneville to take part (though if you've got one, we're obviously very jealous). The DGR is open to classic, vintage, and modern classic-styled motorcycles of all makes and models, provided they fit the theme. So if your modern bike has the right look and feel, you're in.
The dress code? Think suits, tweed, flat caps, ties, waistcoats, and general distinguished-ness. The whole point is to look the part while you ride, turning heads and sparking conversations that matter. Think of it as the most stylish ride-out you'll ever go on. Your usual riding gear will still be underneath for safety, of course, but on the outside? Pure gentleman.
